At DEBrooke Equine Center, our licensed Speech/Language Pathologist, and Center owner Deborah Hurst, uses the horse's rhythmic, repetitive movements to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, strength, flexibility and cognitive skills. The horse's movements also generate responses in the rider that are similar to and essential for walking. In addition, adjusting to and accommodating for the horse's movements increases sensorimotor integration. All of this comes together to hone skills that will help a rider succeed at the important activities of everyday living. While hippotherapy is a treatment modality used as part of speech there. Speech therapy requires a prescription from a physician.
